This week, Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 33 hosted their annual welding competition for students at the headquarters on the south side of Des Moines. The 2016 High School Weld Off  puts to the task, the skills of close to 100 of the top welding students from around Iowa. This year, two Central Campus students earned recognition in the top ten:

5th Place – Daniel Velez (Central Campus / North High School)
8th Place – Dustin Kono (Central Campus / SE Polk High School)

Congratulations Daniel Velez

Central Campus welding instructor Ralph Young notes this is just a modest start for Mr. Velez and Mr. Kono, as their skills are highly desired and in dire need, now and the coming years, which will give them the ability to command a more secure future for themselves and their families.
