Students assist City of Des Moines

Central Campus Civil Engineering & Architecture Students assist City of Des Moines Community Development with property condition assessments in the Capital East Neighborhood. The assessments are necessary for revitalization efforts being planned in several neighborhoods across the city. The data collected will allow the city and other organizations assist residents in property maintenance and upgrades. Students learned how the assessments are used in city planning, what role an architect or civil engineer plays in projects such as these, and criteria used in assessing property conditions.
