Mr. Johnson started his career with the Des Moines Public Schools in the spring of 1992 as a student teacher in the Hoover Speech and Drama Department. His duties over the years have included play director, speech and debate coach, youth wrestling, and public address announcer. His introduction to the broadcasting industry dates back to 1987 when “the new” local sports announcer at KIWA FM admittedly didn’t know anything about high school wrestling. So Mr. Johnson, fresh off of a knee injury, was asked to join him up in the booth. Now a resident of Des Moines, Mr. Johnson continues to do freelance work in the industry as talent for industrial videos and local commercials.
