Game Design & Programming
Delving into both technology and creativity, Game Design & Programming immerses students into the game design industry. Students will study game design & theory, including critical thinking, story and game creation, scripting, game development tools, game physics, game environments, sounds and audio for games, functionality, and managing a game project. They use the design process as well as other skills (graphic design, programming, and music generation) to create a culminating video game. Game engine Unity will be used to package images, textures, sounds, music, media and programming code to into a final game product. Students should anticipate publishing a video game for public viewing.
Experience in game design and computer programming will allow the student to realize the potential for entertainment and educational game design, application design and programming, and simulation design.
Prerequisites: Computer class recommended along with strong interest in field. Grades: 10-11-12.
