SHARING THE TALENT!

Urban Leadership and their crew have recently came from their trip to the 18th Annual Brave New Voices International Poetry Festival. For the first time in 3 years, our youth qualified for semi-finals, coming in 0.8 points away from making it to final
stage! It is a testament to their dedication to the movement and willingness to use their voices to create positive social change.

In celebration of their Elite 8 finish out of 60 teams from across the world, they will be holding a showcase at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 20 at the Temple for Performing Arts to perform the pieces they prepared for the festival. Please join us with an open heart + mind to support our city’s finest youth voices. 

Also-for the last two weeks, incoming 8th and 9th grade students in Des Moines Public Schools took part in Movement 515’s Urban Arts Camp! Students had the option of immersing themselves in spoken word poetry and performance or graffiti writing.
