Sometimes a picture is worth much more than a thousand words
This spring, second year Commercial Photography students volunteered to shoot and edit senior photos for the students graduating from Des Moines Alternative High School, located on the fifth floor of Central Campus. The DMA students were each then given a CD of the pictures to take and have prints of their choice made. Each student will also have their photo displayed on a “graduation wall” at DMA.
This collaboration afforded photography students practice in studio work and portrait editing, while providing the DMA seniors with professional-quality photos, at no cost to them or their families.
As Des Moines Alternative teacher Julie Stoll explains, “Due to having been in alternative placements, many of our students have not had consistent school pictures taken through the years. Having these photographs has meant so much to parents.”
