Watznauer welcomed as new Coordinator for Student Leadership and Engagement
Central Campus is proud to announce and congratulate Gretchen Watznauer as the new Coordinator for Student Leadership and Engagement. Mrs. Watznauer has exemplary experiences as a CTE teacher, training and experience as a mentor, and is currently the Induction Coach at Des Moines Public Schools Central Campus.
“Gretchen is a proven teacher leader and has demonstrated success as an instructional coach and improving instructional practices to engage all learners,” says Aiddy Phomvisay, Assistant Director of Central Campus.
One of the primary goals of the Coordinator is to expand leadership experiences and retain more students through high level career engagement. Gretchen stressed the importance of this goal in her application letter, “I will network within our district and our community to identify student needs, find resources to meet student needs, and assist teachers in building powerful programs that change lives.”
Mr. Phomvisay adds, “Gretchen is a great fit for our team as she has demonstrated herself to be a very capable instructional leader in our building. She is caring, approachable, and student centered. She is absolutely committed to supporting you and your students to be the Best of the Best.”
Mrs. Watznauer joins a powerful team of educators that leads Iowa’s Premier Regional Academy for Advance Career Programs. Central Campus is home to nationally award-winning programs in nine career academies covering thirty-nine specialized career programs. Students at Central Campus earn community college credit and highly recognized career and industry certifications. Central Campus serves the #BestofTheBest students from more than 40 different high schools in the greater Des Moines Metro and central Iowa.
