Central Campus Culinary Students Claim 1st Place in State Invitational will represent Iowa in Washington D.C

A  Five student management team from Des Moines Central Campus was crowned the state champion in the management portion of the 2019 Iowa ProStart Invitational hosted by the Iowa Restaurant Association Education Foundation. The team advances to the national invitational and will represent Iowa in Washington D.C., on May 8-10. They will compete against winning teams from across the county for the national title as well as for scholarship opportunities. Des Moines Central beat management teams from across the state at an event held at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines on Tuesday, February 26. Management teams were challenged to create an original restaurant concept. They wrote business proposals and then pitched their concepts to a panel of Iowa restaurant industry professionals who posed as potential investors and judged their business plans, teamwork, presentation skills and critical thinking abilities.
