Central to Launch Skilled Trades Alliance

Des Moines Public Schools and Central Campus will expand its skilled trades programs beginning in the 2017-2018 school year, creating more opportunities for students seeking employment after high school. The partnership with construction industry leaders and labor organizations creates a Skilled Trades Alliance, with the goal of creating a model program of work-based learning with hands-on applications for students. Fashion Design Students Create for Charity

It’s a service project that will keep many people warm this holiday season. The Central Campus Fashion Design and Merchandising program students just finished working on their fleece hats for one of their favorite charities, Youth Emergency Services & Shelter (YESS).

What’s Old is New Again

A couple of weeks ago Ben Molloy and his Central Campus homebuilding class removed bleachers from what used to be the Tech High natatorium. But they didn’t let all of that lumber and history go to waste. The class used the repurposed planks to build two playhouses that will go up for auction on eBay. And there’s enough wood left over to use in a full-scale house that the class is constructing near Easter Lake. Click here to read an see more.
