Getting a good education and doing good deeds converged yesterday in the Career Opportunities in Health program at Central Campus. Students in the programs worked with LifeServe to coordinate a blood drive at the school. A steady stream of donors took part in the drive. Nice job by the health students at Central! Central Campus and the Skilled Trades Alliance will be hosting a FREE week long Skilled Trades Summer Camp June 12-16 for students currently in grades 8-9. The Learning Academy will be a hands-on camp for students to be introduced to building skills and create a project with industry leaders. Learn more!
Des Moines Public Schools and Central Campus will expand its skilled trades programs beginning in the 2017-2018 school year, creating more opportunities for students seeking employment after high school. The partnership with construction industry leaders and labor organizations creates a Skilled Trades Alliance, with the goal of creating a model program of work-based learning with hands-on applications for students.
